Went with my family after Christmas. Good variety of art throughout time. Kids corners and art spots were a nice touch. Great for people of all ages. Lots of stairs and while there are elevators in different spots it was easier to manover the museum with out them. Well organized exhibits, my favorite being the one with the American furnishing.
I had always dreamed of a rustic barn wedding, but when it came to actually planning our wedding, we realized that a wedding like that wasn't in the budget or what I really wanted. Which is when the Worcester Art Museum came up in my searches for local venues. This is the ONE and only venue we toured because we knew it was the only place for our wedding. We knew it would be stunning, but we had no idea how much of a fairytale wedding it would end up being. Janice Potter and her staff are superb - seriously Marisa is AMAZING. She was always there exactly when I needed her, she even took over bustling my dress when my bridesmaid was having trouble. Both my now husband and I loved her and all the work she did during our wedding (she even made sure all of our gifts and everything we brought stayed safe and got in our car at the end of the night). You are in good hands with her. Our ceremony was in the Chapter House - it was like getting married in a castle! And our reception was in the Renaissance Court. You save on decorations since you're surrounded by art work. It was a magical evening we will never forget. Our guests couldn't stop talking about it either and said it was one of the best weddings they've gone to and how they loved being able to tour the galleries. Having professional photos of your wedding day are great... but having them with priceless works of art and history? Priceless. You will not regret having your wedding at the Worcester Art Museum. Plus you can go back on your anniversary to the place you joined your lives together... which meant something to us.
Wasn't expecting such a great museum . The building itself is fantastic. The Roman mosaic is worth the entrance fee. Winslow Homer exhibit was superb. Great place to visit.
It's facinating to see art from over 4000 years ago to Andy Warhol to the recently added mural art. It stirs something in me and gets my own artistic juices flowing. I think i studied one of the Rembrandt portraits for an hour. It is a beautiful place to get lost in.
The armored dog was placed awkwardly placed so you could only see the one side of the dog and hid some of the details. Was also expecting to see more of the Higgins Collection. Only real negative was that the gift shop didn't sell local artist work or highlight some local artisans.
Firstly, I️ was told that I️ would be disappointed. Far from it. I️ was pleased by the varied exhibits. I️ went for the Winslow exhibit but spent a good four hours with my daughter working our way down the four flights. Among my favs were the Impressionists, the ancient carvings and the photographic People of Color from a Worcester photographer from the turn of the last century.
