After a fire, reaching the insurance company immediately was impossible because they don't make their 24 hour claim phone number public. I came home from teaching night school to find my garage ablaze because of the actions of a neighbor. I had to wait until the next morning to file the claim. The claims processor on the line was nice enough and said there was a 24 hour 800 number. He gave me the number. I have yet to see the number posted anywhere. I was assigned an adjuster. The adjustor has done all in his power to delay, deny, obstruct, prevent and procrastinate any possibility of payment. I have a "loss of use" benefit on my home owners policy. I have spent over $7,000.00 in lodging fees. To date, I have been reimbursed for exactly $2,500.00. This amount was intended to cover meals, room, lodging, laundry, legal storage of a gun collection, etc. The adjustor continues to delay, deny, obstruct, and procrastinate in the payment of my legitimate claims.
Needless to say, I will find a way to spread this word throughout the educator community. If you find yourself sold on the idea of buying any insurance through Educators Insurance Agency, please reread the above and reconsider! It is a shame that I have to hire an attorney to access the insurance benefits for which I have faithfully paid for many years.
I contacted someone in Georgia who is supposed to be a supervisor. He assured me that matters would be resolved. In a moment of desperation and weakness, I believed him. My next step is to retain an attorney to access the policy benefits I have paid for over many years.
Educators, do not buy your insurance from Educators Insurance Agency. EIA has to be worst possible choice you can make. Consider yourselves duly warned.
